12 Day of Christmas: Stockings

Today, if you have not realized it yet, is my sixth day of my 12 Days of Christmas!  To me stockings are a HUGE part of Christmas.  After the tree is decorated (here) they are the next thing that goes up.

In my family we have had the same stockings since my brother was born in 1992.  They are great tradition and every year when the stockings are hung on the mantel I truly know it is Christmas.  I have moved houses and grown up quite a bit, as you can see in these two photos, but these red and white felt stockings have remained one of a constant and one of the things that really makes the holiday special for me.

(PS. I asked my mom last week and she did, in fact, make these stockings!)

    I saw the Free People ones in the store and they are even more gorgeous in person! My mom bought me and my brother these huge body sized stockings, we’ve had them since we were like 5! Every year shes shoves all of our present in them it’s great πŸ™‚

    I love the Free People patchwork stocking! My family has always used stockings, and one of the best parts of Christmas mornings has always been sitting in front of the fire place, coffee cup in hand, and then picking out the small stocking stuffers one by one!

    WE have the red and white stockings from Pottery Barn and I absolutely love them. I think it’s important, like you, to have that one Christmas decor tradition that doesn’t change!
