On Saturday night I went to the Hark Society’s 4th Annual Emerald Tie Gala and had a wonderful evening dancing the night away. I attended the fundraiser last year, which you can see here, and this year the event was even better. Up until an hour before I was stuck on what to wear, torn between two beautiful gowns, but decided to go with the royal blue one and I am quite pleased with my decision. The dress had so much going on that I chose these dainty earrings I purchased in Vienna, my silver David Yurman bracelet, and black pumps as my only accessories for this floor length stunner.
One friend joked that this event, the annual Emerald Tie Gala, is like adult prom only it is not a joke – it really is. I spent the day leisurely getting ready for the black tie soirée first working out then showering, doing my makeup, getting a hair cut and blow out, and then having the wonderful people at Sephora apply my fake eyelashes before heading downtown. Before arriving at the actual gala I stopped at a friend’s apartment for a few appetizers and a pre-party glass of champagne. And of course it was all on Snapchat.
After an hour we jumped into Uber’s and headed to the event space, Capitale, an old converted bank, on the Lower East Side. We wanted to be there right when it started as while the five hour event featured an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, a band and a great DJ when you arrive promptly there is no line for photographs or for the photo booth. After dozens of shots it was five hours of fun, from 10pm to 3am.
I loved getting the chance to dress up and spend the evening both with close friends and with many Georgetown alumni I had not seen for a few years, some even since we graduated!
Happy Friday and happy Oscar weekend!
