What should my response be, “Oh my goodness, really? I had no idea” My name has been Kelly for the past 23 years and the color has been around a lot longer – of course I have heard this.
When I mentioned this to my roommate recently she had a great point – once you graduate college there is no iteration of your name or silly nickname you have not already heard. Her name is Camielle and someone thought they were genius coming up with the name Cameleon for her last month. Really? Of course she has heard that one. And probably anything and everything else that sounds similar.
The real crux of the matter is how to handle answering the question of my favorite color. Just because my name is Kelly does not mean Kelly Green is my favorite color. I have been known to wear it once in a a while but that is usually only on St. Patrick’s Day when it is the most popular hue around.
Other than that, the answer is a resounding no. I wrote a post last fall about how black is my favorite color and have said in an interview that royal blue is my favorite. Both of these are true. Royal blue / cobalt is my favorite color and if you will let me call black a color then it is a close second. That is not to say, though, that I am averse to color, I also really like teal and fuchsia. So there you go. With a resounding no, Kelly Green is not my favorite color.
