Happy Friday! This weekend is always bitter sweet to me because, while I love the extra day off, it means the unofficial end to summer and I am never ready for it! I will be joining the hundred of thousands of New Yorkers making an exodus out of the concrete jungle for the weekend and it seems everyone I talk to is going somewhere near the water, weather the ocean or a lake. This prompted a discussion with one friend about boat shoes and how, “only Sperry makes them…”.
Well, I beg to differ. Sperry Top-Siders do have quite a large presence in this market but many other companies do make boat shoes. That being said, last Spring one of my best friends got married on the beach in San Diego and she and her groom both wore Top Siders, how adorable are they?
I wish I could take photo credit but, alas, I can not. These photos were taken by Eliza J. Photography. For those of you who may not be familiar with the term, boat shoes are typically made from canvas or leather with non-marking rubber soles designed for use on a boat. In the photo above my friend is wearing a pair of metallic Sperry’s but I think that Minnetonka, Lacoste, Crocs (gasp), and Frye also have cute options:
