My favorite winter drink has to be hot chocolate. During these cold months at least once a week you can find me sitting at my desk holding my hot chocolate with both hands and after just one sip it makes my day better. It is desert in a cup, and for me, one of the only one’s that is fun to enjoy during any season, but I particularly love it around the holidays.
At work I usually choose between two options and it really depends how “bad” I am being. Instead of a Keurig machine in my office we have a Flavia single cup coffee brewer which produces some truly amazing Hazelnut coffee and green tea, but my first choice has to be the Dove hot chocolate. It tastes so rich and amazing that my guess was that each packet had 300 calories but I was suprised to find out it was on 80 (thanks Google). However, I usually steer away from this and choose my go-to Diet Swiss Miss, which at only 25 calories gives me as much calcium as an 8oz glass of milk, good to know! When I am at home and I ask nicely my mom makes it with milk and it is even more delicious!
Two months ago, I was at Le Pain Quotidien in Soho for brunch and my friend ordered the hot chocolate. We were both surprised when it arrived, as it was simply white froth in a white mug, however, we were surprised and delighted when the waitress brought over the pure dark chocolate for this make-your-own drink which was absolutely delicious! I have had it this way only once before and I forgot how tasty it was – I highly recommend it! I honestly might go back for brunch again soon just to order it. I have, though, in fact had drinking chocolate which believe it or not was too intense for me, so I will stick with my hot chocolate please!
