I have always loved playing dress up, from teetering around in my mother’s heels and pearls at the age of three to pretending I was a princess parading through the house in the prom dresses at my grandmother’s house. Wearing beautiful outfits not fit for everyday occasions has always been one of my favorite things and I was afraid once I grew up that I would have to stop this but my favorite television shows, Grey’s Anatomy, had a very interesting perspective on this in a 2006 episode:
I have to agree with her, while sometimes it is challenging there are many perks of being a “real person” and one of my favorite is getting dressed up for events. A few weeks ago my university hosted their annual homecoming on campus but this past weekend the New York City chapter of our alumni cub rented out Gotham Hall in midtown Manhattan for a gala. This venue used to be the headquarters of the Greenwich Savings Bank and now, as a catering venue, it has been voted one of the Top 10 wedding destinations in NYC – it was absolutely stunning!
I rarely, if ever, pass up a chance to wear a gown and I had an amazing evening in a metallic gold dress that I found at the same Soho boutique as my peplum dress, while my roommate stunned in BCBG’s Agata V-Back Gown.
